Angelo Piazza Iv Obituary

ANGELO PIAZZA OBITUARY

PIAZZA WINSTON-SALEM – Angelo Piazza, 56, passed away Wednesday, April 21, 2010 at the Kate B. Reynolds Hospice Home after a strong battle against kidney cancer. He was born in Brooklyn, N.Y. and moved to Winston-Salem in 1996 to take care of his wife’s parents. After moving to North Carolina, Angelo would walk outside and say “It’s another beautiful day!” Angelo took advantage of North Carolina’s beautiful weather by hiking, running and working in the yard. He was an avid runner and he ran the New York Marathon numerous times and in fact was in training to run another marathon before his diagnosis. He also took pleasure in remodeling homes. Angelo was a member of Saint Leo’s Catholic Church. Even though kidney cancer is an aggressive disease and Angelo’s life was dramatically shortened, he was able to experience the true caring and kindness of others. Angelo was preceded in death by his beloved parents Beatrice Guarnieri and Anthony Piazza; Uncle Sal Scalice; and God-daughterKristina Scalice. Angelo will be missed in life by a very large family; his loving father Larry Guarnieri, his beloved wife, Peggy and his son, William, which he was very proud of; his dear Aunt Mary Scalice, his brothers, Sal Guarnieri and his wife Linda, Larry Guarnieri and his wife Clare, and Thomas Guarnieri and wife Patti; his sisters Josephine and her husband Bob, and Patricia Collins and her husband Bryan. He is also survived by his close cousins Sal Scalice and his wife Cheryl, JoAnn Kucan and her husband Bob, and Maria Giordano and her husband Jimmy. Angelo was a beloved uncle to many nieces and nephews. Angelo would also want us to include his loyal companions and man’s best friend “Coco” and “B.B” who never left his side during his illness. Even through his fight with cancer, Angelo enjoyed his many visits from his close friends, Mike and Ruth Green, Mark and Marcia Wilkinson, and David and Anna Moore. Angelo lived an accomplished and successful life. He enjoyed a wonderful twenty-three years of marriage to Peggy. Angelo received a Bachelor of Arts in Computer Science from Queens College and was a Senior Data Movement Administrator at Inmar Technology Solutions. Angelo always said that he was truly blessed to work for a company that cared so much about their employees. The family will receive friends and family at Vogler and Sons Funeral Home on Reynolda Road on Thursday, April 22, 2010 from 6:00-8:00 p.m. A Mass and Graveside Service will take place in Angelo’s hometown in New York on Saturday, April 24, 2010. The family requests that in lieu of flowers, donations to the Kate B. Reynolds Hospice Home, 101 Hospice Lane, Winston-Salem, NC 27103 would be appreciated.

Peggy and William, I am so sorry for your loss. Angelo was such a nice guy. Smiling his way through a giant basement remodel project. Even though we lost touch in the past few years, there is always a fond connection I feel with you guys. BB could not have had a better home or more loving parents. Please know my heart breaks for your family.

You cannot meet a nicer guy than Angelo. If this world were full of guys like him, it would be a magnificent place. I am deeply sorry for the family’s loss and the loss being felt by all those who knew Angelo.

Angelo was such a great guy to work with. He always had the greatest attitude and was just such a pleasure to be around. I had to call him often at work for research and questions and he was always so pleasant and you really just looked forward to talking with him. We have missed him so very much here. Please know my thoughts and prayers are with you all.

Peggy and William,

Angelo’s gentleness, kindness, passion for technology and serving others, were attributes that made him such a valuable part of our teams at Vista and Inmar/Stratapult. I will miss seeing him at the office and hearing his voice on the phone during my travels. We were planning to take a run together at Salem Lake. and we still will.

We continue to pray for you both.

Angelo was the kindest man you could ever meet. He always had a gentle way about him. It was an honor to call him “friend.” He loved Peggy, Billy, CoCo, BB, and his many friends and large extended family. We will miss you Angelo. We love you very much.

Angelo was ‘one of the good guys’ and he is already missed! The words “It’s a great day!” (with a big grin, of course) is what I remember him saying every morning. His humor and positive attitude for life were admirable. It has been wonderful working with him over the years.

You are both in my thoughts and prayers.
